Welcome to Nutrition Insight!

Growing up, I was surrounded by the smells and rich flavors of Filipino cuisine. Dishes that told stories of my origins, who raised me and what home felt like. Then I fell in love with Italian food. Somewhere between I found my why. Food is more than what we eat. It is how we connect, how we remember where we come from and how we learn from one another.

That kind of curiosity never left me. It led me to a Bachelor's degree where I chose Nutrition as my major. What really solidified my interest was a Food and Culture class, before it all clicked. Food, to me, was more than learning about it. I was learning about people. About what we eat is shaped by our culture. To learn from each other by sharing part of who we are through the connection of different cuisines.

Nutrition opened my eyes to a world unknown to me. A world I wanted to explore. The more I learned, the more I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Not only as a student but as someone who could show up for others the way I wished someone would show up for me.

That is why Nutrition Insight exists. A space born out of curiosity, a love for food and a deep belief in being seen in one's wellness journey. I am currently pursuing my M.S. in Human Nutrition degree. Everything here comes from a place of passion and open-mindedness — to explore different avenues with each post, bridging evidence-based research and a continuity of learning. What is provided here is not professional advice, but an invitation to feel welcomed into a space where you will find reflections on topics that matter. Topics such as food and culture, chronic disease prevention, holistic wellness and community access to food. Because health is not one-size-fits-all.

We are individuals with different backgrounds and unique perspectives, meaning we all have our own personal stories and insights. Whether you are a student, a healthcare professional, someone navigating their own wellness journey or simply someone who loves food and wants to understand it more — this space is for you.

Navigating This Blog

Posts are organized around these central themes I value and align with.

  • Food + Culture Exploration of stories, traditions + identities woven into what we eat.

  • Chronic Disease PreventionUnderstanding of the connection between nutrition + long-term health outcomes.

  • Holistic WellnessPath of nourishing the mind, body, and eventually, the whole person + community

  • Community, Food Access + Nutrition Security What we eat is shaped by where we live and resources we are provided.

Each theme builds upon the previous. Together, they paint a picture of what it means to explore the concept of “Food As Medicine”. Because here, “Food As Medicine” is more than a concept—it is in the heart of every reflection.

A Call to Community

Nutrition Insight is not meant to have all of the answers. It is a space to share thoughts and opinions — all are welcome.

If you have ever felt unseen in conversations surrounding food, health or wellness, I invite you with open arms. If you carry stories built upon traditions, tied to access or loss, those stories matter and are heard. And if you are in a place of learning, unlearning and finding your way, you are not alone because you are supported here.

You are invited to engage whatever feels right for you. To read, to reflect, to sit and take what resonates. To share your stories. To be curious, bringing your culture and lived experience with you into this community.

Like the community, this space grows — through listening, openness and the belief that food connects us far beyond the table.

I am grateful you are here, journeying together.

Journeys are meant to provide us with insight through learning from each other, because our wants and needs involve social connection and community. Food and nutrition help us bridge this gap, even it means being one voice in the sea of many. That has been my outlook on life — and what I hope to contribute, not to those who have supported me, but to the community and its people.

With gratitude and curiosity
